Like to travel and, get paid?

How’s it going folks?

So, over the past few years I thought I was Mr Bright booking my own travel and “saving” what I thought, was extorniate fees that some travel agents like to give. 

To be honest, I was over the moon as I didn’t know any better. This year I was working at my other business and totally forgot to book my family holiday (2x adults and 5x children) to Disneyland over the mid term break.

So, being the Mr Bright I jumped straight onto the usual places (booking, Expedia etc) and the prices I thought were a bit high but, seeing as I left it to the last minute it was justifiable. I was about to book but I got a notification on Facebook and, me being me (which I’m sure most reading this do) was sucked into scrolling down the newsfeed, again. 

Anyways, as I was scrolling down I noticed that my cousin had just started a travel company and I thought I’d get a quote from her, after all, if she was quoting around the same I’d rather give her the business. To my horror and absolute delight, she not only got me a better quote but, she got it almost half the price it was on the cheapest DIY site!! I could get the flights cheaper myself and she even suggested I got those myself as no point paying the higher price for the same flight. 

I was absolutely fascinated by this as I knew she was making a commission out of this and, being the entrepreneur type I had to know how this was possible!! 

So, after doing some research I found that the bulk of DIY sites are in fact the same company just using umbrella sites to acquire more rooms from hotels. Not only are they accquiring more rooms but, they price compare and, compete rates  with each other!! After all these years I thought I was getting a bargain. I know. 

I got back to my cousin and asked how I could get involved in this as I travel a lot and there could be room for saving money on my trips (by ways of commissions). Turns out, for such a small amount you practically get a travel shop in a box and make a healthy amount of commission on the bookings you make. I was sold right away. After all, who doesn’t want to make money whilst travelling? Exactly.
