Teach Our Kids a Work Ethic and About Leverage

Living a life with financial peace is something I want for my 16 year old son.  At the same time, he needs to learn a physical work ethic before he learns about leverage.

As a reader, you may or may not agree with this article.  That's ok.  You are welcome to message me with your opinions.  I will listen to them.  You are entitled to your opinion.

My son and I were talking about this topic yesterday.  He knows I work online and I'm involved in a couple of programs.  I've told him I would help him get started when the time is right.

I also told him yesterday as he was cutting grass that his physical work ethic needs to come first.  Now, I am not talking about brutal physical work on a regular basis that has him worn out so much he can barely walk at the end of the day.

I have done my fair share of working long hours.  I have traveled for work a great deal and I know all about that side of things.

What I am requiring of my son at the moment is to keep the grass cut at home and I pay him for that.  He was playing high school basketball but there were issues on the team and he left it.  So, now he is mainly focused on working out at the Y and playing ball in a rec league or maybe church league.

So, we talk about discipline and how he will use his time on a regular basis.  Since school has been out because of the corona virus, he has had alot of time at home.  I have tried to keep him busy and he has done what we have asked him to.

Now, I feel like there needs to be a balance between work ethic and leverage.  It is ok, and actually it is needed to a degree, for the kid to know a little bit about struggling before they know what success feels like.

They won't really appreciate the success otherwise and will end up with a sense of entitlement.  Entitlement is not a good thing.  I don't want to see him grow into manhood feeling like he is entitled to anything.

A strong work ethic will apply to anything we do in life.  To establish leverage, you need a strong work ethic.  You need to be strong period since nothing comes easy.

So, I guess the point of this article is that our kids will never learn to establish leverage if they don't learn a strong work ethic first, a physical work ethic to some degree.

Now, in his mid to late twenties and beyond, I would like to see him working on his email list, promoting solid programs, and talking in those terms and us exchanging ideas on all of that.

I would rather us be talking in those terms than talking about working long hours and paying bills.  I would rather him talk about his vision for his family's future, and hear him talk about helping somebody on his email list get traction with an online business.

I would also like to hear him talking about listening to leaders or going to events and taking notes that he can learn from and pass on to people on his email list.

I am hoping I can help him understand these things as he grows older.  I want him to live a life of financial freedom.

We all have to understand that freedom comes with responsibility.  Financial freedom means we have a level of time freedom that we can use to serve other people.  We can help them reach that level of financial freedom and time freedom in their own lives.

To whom much is given, much is required.

So, I recorded a youtube video yesterday if you would like to see it.

You already know about Send Shark and why I use it and promote it.  You may not know alot about the other program I promote since they have their restrictions about promoting online that I need to abide by.

However, since I have seen what is possible and I like the program, I will continue to promote it through my email list.  I follow their guidelines and will work to grow my income with them.  I have a small residual check at this point.

You can click here to go to a landing page and subscribe to learn more.  We will need to have a live zoom video call for you to really learn how it works.  For me, I know it is worth the effort to promote it in the long run.

Thanks for reading folks.  Enjoy your day and stay safe.
