What are the 7 Hurdles to Growing your business and how to overcome them

In 2020 the challenges in growing your business seem to be growing. How can someone avoid most of the pitfalls that are out there in network marketing? How can you grow your business without becoming a member of the N.F.L. (No Friends Left) club? I don’t pretend to have all the answers as we are all on this journey together. What I can tell you is marketing today isn’t easy, but there is a vast difference between simple and easy.

The answers to the biggest challenge question fit into 7 main categories. Those being: 

1. Frustration with the telephone – no return calls and no one ever answers the phone anymore

2. Having the latest information on ways to grow my business. Tips, techniques, new school vs. old school ways, dealing with people’s doubt and cynicism of my opportunity and having them engage with the awesome information I have to share with them. 

3. Having a consistent supply of people/leads to show what I have to them.

4. Finding people’s true pain point so I can tailor what I have to their needs and make sure I provide a solution to their pain

5. Team building. I can sell my products but can’t seem to find people that want to build.

6. Finding the right company that won’t go out of business, bow to the FTC and won’t change the compensation plan and take all of my hard-earned money away

7. Balancing work, family and business life and keeping it in harmony

Let’s take each of these challenges a day at a time.

Frustration with the telephone

 
We’ve all been there. We connect with someone either in person or online. It seems that they are a great fit for our business. They might even be the next big builder that we need to finally put us over the top in our business and get us ranking up. They couldn’t be any more perfect for what we need! We exchange information and I promise to call them later on that same day. I call, get voicemail. I leave a polite message trying not to sound overly enthusiastic. I wonder how long I should wait to call back. They may have been on another call and not notice that I left a message. I think I better call my upline to ask them and tell them what an awesome prospect I discovered today! They will have the answer on when to call back. 30 minutes later, after the advice from my upline, I call back, texting them first to alert them to the fact that I will be calling. I text them something to the effect of “I can’t wait to talk with you! You’re going to love what I have to share with you!” I call and magically, they still don’t answer. Before I go to bed that evening, my excitement waning, I leave one more message that says, “I’m sure something big came up that you couldn’t take my call. I hope everything is OK and I will try to reach out again tomorrow.” I go to sleep that night with those doubts in my mind of “Is this really a good thing? A good business? Am I cut out for this? Maybe everyone that says this is just one of those Pyramid Schemes is right? 

Do you see how self-doubt can so easily creep into our minds? All it took was one situation where we thought we had “found” the right person. Now we trap ourselves into all kinds of negative thinking. The phone can be our friend. Whether it is an actual phone call or a video chat we can’t forget that this is still a people business with real contact. It’s called network marketing for a reason; we have to network. So how can we make the phone or a video chat our friend and solve the challenge of people dodging us and not responding? 

A few months ago, I stumbled on a concept that taught me how to have people actually calling me. Or wanting to video chat with me. Imagine having people reaching out to you! It is something that is so very refreshing. Now before you think that this isn’t possible, you need to know something. 
I had tried network marketing for years with limited success. I did everything my upline told me to do to build my business. I put together a list of 100 people. I invited people to my house “for coffee” to trick them into coming over. I spammed all over my social media accounts about my product, my business and opportunity. I almost alienated my family. I requested people as “friends” and then immediately began hitting them with “You seem like a bright person. Do you keep your options open to add more time freedom and income to your life?” This screamed to them that I most likely wasn’t the bright person!! So, what changed for me and more importantly can it change for you? 

Think about what I was doing. It was actually a way to market to repel people away from me. The exact opposite of what I wanted. Not only didn’t it work, but I was ruining my online reputation and killing off legitimate friendships along the way. What I stumbled on was something called attraction marketing.

Attraction marketing has a reputation with some online being the “spamming reaching out thing” that I used to do. NOTHING could be further from the truth. I saw a 10-day course that I could get that spoke to me. It showed me that what I was doing was what every other person online (mostly) was also doing. Shouting as loudly as they could to get people to “see” what they have. 

Think of it this way. If you could, would you rather have people contacting you about your business instead of chasing others with it? Would you rather have people that already are sold on the concept of network marketing to speak with or those you have to convince that we have a viable business option and not a “pyramid thingy”?
