Crazy Story Of A Prospect I Called (You Won't Believe What She Said)
If a funny story could help make your day a little better, then you will want to read this business announcement.
As we prospect more and more people in MLM, we come across strange people, who say strange things.
However, this particular prospect said something I would have never thought I'd ever hear while calling the leads I generate online.
So, here is the conversation in a nutshell, and I hope it blows your mind as much as it did mine!
She Came To Me First
First thing to understand, is this prospect opted-in to a landing page of mine, and left her number.
That's the same to me as raising your hand and asking to be called.
But, she may of forgot about it, or is just so paranoid that she believes someone is listening to every word she says.
I want to point this out, because what she then goes on to say, is where it blew my mind!
She Asks Me A Serious Question
Once I had the lady on the phone, she first agreed to being who I was asking for.
But then...
She changed her mind, she was not the person I asked for.
Then she asks me, if I am the police? (seriously)
I told her I was not the police, and explained why I was calling. So she became the prospect again, and agreed she was telling the truth when she said she was who she was.
Why Would She Care About The Police?
Then once again, as we are discussing the material she looked at, she asks me "Are you sure you aren't the police? How do I know you're not the police?"
I explained why I was calling, and I have no connection with the police.
This kept going for a bit, one minute she is calm, the next minute she is scared that I am the police.
So I had to ask, what this obsession with the police is all about?
Her Admitted Crime
She then tells me, why she is afraid I am the police, trying to trick her and get info from her.
She tells me she is in Oklahoma (which was the area code), and came there from Texas a few weeks back.
She is staying in Oklahoma because the police are looking for her in Texas.
She tells me she assisted in the robbery of a store down there, and is on the run.
I really couldn't believe if she is just crazy, or if she really did commit this crime.
If she is a criminal, then telling complete strangers about the crime is not a good idea to keep from getting caught.
But, I wasn't calling to find out where she was or turn her in, so I just decided to let her go and not deal with her. Either way, if it is true or not, she is not fit to be on my team.
The Conclusion
When you make a lot of calls, be prepared to hear some great stories from those you talk to.
I've met people who stole a dog from my exact town where I live, but they live near Canada. So the craziest things will be learned of, and some shocking and unlikely things will be heard.
Make prospecting fun, as fun as possible.
Make lots of calls like I do, and you will hear these stories and laugh at them down the road.
