Email Marketing

This is an area I ignored in the beginning. I didn’t use my email, so I didn’t see the point in sending emails to others. BIG MISTAKE…. Look at how far I’ve come! Almost all of my good stuff, is in the email program series!! Not only that, but things have changed dramatically since I started out selling online almost 19 years ago! Nowadays, people have cell phones. Cell phones require you to have an email account to even access most features. Getting into hundreds of people’s inboxes will serve your business far better than Facebook’s 7% exposure rate. (In case you didn’t know, your posts, on a GOOD day, only reach 7% of your friends!)

Email marketing delivers a return of 4,300 percent, is more cost-effective than other forms of marketing, and it frees up your time so you can get back to running your business. And consumers love it. Take a look – the stats don’t lie:.

Social Media Is NOT the ‘home’ of your advertising, it’s the avenue. The ‘home’ of your advertisements should be in the email inbox!

At its simplest, email marketing is a powerful communication tool for building relationships with customers. It gives you a chance to speak to a lot of people at once and even expand your reach. It is the tool for you to stay connected with loyal customers and on-the-fence prospects who otherwise may have never interacted with your brand again.

Imagine this scenario for a moment: A bright-eyed individual is exploring your website. She looks around a few pages but leaves with an empty shopping cart when she doesn’t see a sweater in her favorite color. Maybe she’ll return and consider making a purchase, but the chances are slim.

Now imagine she had an opportunity to hear from you again – a chance to sign up to your email list and leave the door open for future interactions. To quite possibly gain a win-win scenario of a sale for you, AND have a satisfied customer who found exactly what they were looking for. Email becomes so much more than just another way to throw your company name before customers – it’s a way to connect with people, develop their trust, and present the value of your business and products. That’s what sets email marketing apart from traditional advertising. Instead of just telling consumers about your company and hoping they make a purchase, you’re building relationships with those who are truly interested in your business and creating long-lasting trust. Considering that most people prefer to communicate with brands through their inbox, email marketing is a no-brainer! Bonus resource when you sign up for the course!

Email marketing starts with gathering contact information from your viewers. You can do this in many different ways! When you are first starting out and sales are slow, you can spend time focusing on very simple email tasks. Ask people to message you their email address to receive a special incentive.

For example; “The Pinterest Marketing course we have is free! It only costs your time to register. By registering, you are added to an email list.” The goal is to get them to the email list, and the course is the incentive. “I want you on my email list to send you any products/goodies that I have which will help you grow your business.” You want people on your list so you can increase relationships, make more sales, grow your team, etc.. No matter the goal, email marketing is a HUGE part of a small business’s success!

Target, Attract, Engage, Close – REPEAT

Making a Post to your Facebook Page such as, “I just started a new blog for recipes. Who wants the link?” can trigger a ton of interaction – (unless your account is flagged and you receive ZERO interaction, no matter what you Post. In that case, contact me ASAP!) When folks start responding, send them a message that asks them for their email address to send the blog link in.

Then, you need to keep a spreadsheet or list of your gathered emails. There are also many ways to create sign-up or registration forms that will auto-generate spreadsheet and track important information. I STILL enjoy using google forms as a free option. MailChimp has also been one of my favorites.

If you have a website or blog, do some research on how your subscribe option works and try to drive your followers to subscribe to your blog. Also, research these contact gathering tools to see which one suits you best. Reply to your emails for help!

What type of incentive can you use to attract your followers to your new email list?
