Meet the Snarky Bar
Meet the SnarkyBar: a scrubby soap with attitude
So what is the SnarkyBar? In short: it’s an exfoliating soap bar (or “scrubby bar”) from Perfectly Posh designed for neck-to-toe use (but not generally for your face). The brand affectionately calls these bars “snarky” because they deliver “the good kind of hurt” — aggressive but effective exfoliation.
The “Who, What, When, Where, Why, How” of SnarkyBar
Who is this for? Anyone with rough or dry patches of skin — elbows, knees, feet, any place that could benefit from serious exfoliation. It’s particularly popular with people who feel their regular soaps just don’t scrub enough. Bloggers have called it “very aggressive” and ideal to use a few times a week instead of daily.
What is it? A shea-butter–based bar with exfoliating beads or particles (cellulose, polylactic acid, or plant-derived scrub bits) to physically slough off dead skin. The base is a soap (sodium palmate / sodium palm kernelate) with water, glycerin, fragrance, and other supporting ingredients.
When / Where do you use it? In the shower or bath, when your skin is wet and you’re ready for a scrub session. Use it selectively — many recommend limiting to 2-3 times per week (or even alternate days) for sensitive skin.
Why choose it? Because it offers deep exfoliation, revealing smoother, softer skin, especially helpful for rough patches and dull-looking skin. Traditional soaps may cleanse, but they don’t always remove dead surface cells. With SnarkyBar, you get cleansing + exfoliation in one.
How does it work? You wet the bar, rub it over your skin (shoulders → toes), let the scrub bits do the work, then rinse thoroughly. After rinsing, pat dry and follow with a moisturizer (body butter, lotion, oil) to seal in softness. Because it’s more intense than typical soap, many users avoid using it on delicate facial skin.
Ingredients — what’s inside?
Here’s a representative ingredient list (from the “Shea-Loaded VERY Scrubby Bar” version): Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Cellulose Acetate, Magnesium Oxide, Glycerin, Fragrance, Sodium Gluconate, Palm Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sodium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, Palm Kernel Acid, Red 4, Red 33.
In variants like the Lime in the Coconut Snarky Bar, you’ll also see: polylactic acid, sucrose (sugar), coconut shell powder, lime peel powder, and essential oils for scent.
Shea butter is included for its moisturizing, skin-conditioning properties (helping reduce the harshness of scrubbing). The cellulose or polylactic beads or shells provide the physical exfoliation. Fragrances and coloring compounds round out the sensory side.
