What Are You Scared Of? Don't You Deserve It?

There are 3 types of fear existing in Network Marketing. The fear of failure to succeed; the fear of success and people fear. Let me explain:

• The fear of failure to succeed. Experts in the field of high achievement would tell us to set goals i.e., decided what we want, write it down, get a picture of it, set a date of accomplishment and visualize ourselves with it in order to achieve success.

These are all acceptable steps to achieving what we want in life. Yet, how many of us experience a tiny bit of fear that maybe we won't get it? We start out with the best intentions, but with the slightest hint of doubt. To overcome this very human trait we must ask ourselves, "What am I scared of?" "Don't I deserve it?" Let's be honest with ourselves. If we work hard towards the accomplishment of the things we want in life, don't we deserve to have them? Of course we do. So, there's no reason we should be scared that we won't get them.

This type of fear is rooted somewhere in our minds; possibly when were told we weren't good enough for something we wanted to have or go after. When I was a teenager, my step-mother asked me what I wanted to go to college for. I said, "I want to be a Psychologist." To my shock she said, "You're not smart enough." As a young man that single comment destroyed my dream. Although I didn't agree internally, that I wasn't smart enough, I didn't become a Psychologist.

• The fear of success. Believe it or not, there are those of us who are fearful of success. It's like the guy who sees this beautiful woman and pursues her with all he has only to start sabotaging his relationship with her once he has her.

I believe this type of fear stems from a lack of gratitude. Gratitude overshadows platitude because it corrects our attitude. Being grateful for the success we achieve starts with remembering our beginning. Remembering when we first started our journey...the things we would dream of having...the lifestyle we would enjoy once we achieved our goals...this should make us grateful for our success.

Too many of us think we have to act a certain way, do certain things or change our personalities all together. No! Fear of success makes some of us do weird stuff, but what are we scared of? We deserve to be successful! Being successful and having success should be like breathing fresh air. Our lungs and breathing apparatus was designed for breathing. In the same way we were designed to be successful.

• People fear. Experts in human behavior say, the number one need of the human psyche is to be recognized. They suggest we would do most anything for a simple pat on the back!

I've heard it said, "People work harder for recognition than they do for money." I'm not entirely sold on this, but in many ways it has a ring of truth. For this reason, I think this is the most devastating fear. Because of people fear, a person would do something they normally would not do. When I was a child it was called, "Peer pressure." As an adult it's called, "Saving face."

This fear makes us pretend to be what we are not! I don't believe in "fake it til we make it!" As an entrepreneur it comes down to "Just Do It" til we make it. Don't let what others think of you or me force us to get distracted from the goal of becoming who we want to be. We are not what others think we should be and they are not the determining factor of who we are.

People fear can make or break your spirit! Have you ever seen someone who you think has it all and get paralyzed with the fear to share your opportunity with them. I did. I remember in the earlier part of my career as a Net-worker, I made contact with a guy who lived in a beautiful home on Lake Sammamoth, WA. He had a great life...you know what I'm talking about. His wife was stunning; he had the 2.5 kids (whatever that means) and drove a late model Mercedes Benz. I made him a friend, but was scared to tell about my business opportunity.

One day he asked, "Jerome I never see you go to work. Are you employed?" That opened the door to sharing that I was a top ten money earner in a binary program. He was over the top impressed. So much so that he began to tell me about intimate things in his financial life that blew my mind. Needless to say, he joined my company and quickly achieved success. This taught me a valuable lesson: "Never look at people who have everything as if they do." Don't be scared of people. Don't be scared of success. Don't be scared of the failurre to succeed. You deserve all the success you dream for and so much more!
