MLM and Why Avon Was the Right Opportunity For Me #AvonNow

It all started with a gorgeous over-sized black purse. Seriously, I joined Avon because of a purse?!! But wait before you go, it gets deeper than that. I joined Avon 14 months ago after searching for my must-have black bag of the season. A couple of weeks after my hunt began, I saw an Avon Sold Here sign in a nearby neighbor's yard and decided to see if Avon might have a bag suitable to my tastes for the price I wanted to pay (I'm a self-proclaimed bargain shopper!). As I was searching the website I came across the sign up here to start selling now and decided to check it out. Low and behold there was a gorgeous super-sized bag full of products that I could then use to generate more money. You mean to tell me buying this bag could potentially earn me more money??!!!! Never, have I purchased a clothing item or fashion accessory that had the ability to pay for itself if I acquired the right skills and remained diligent. I was sold! I signed up, ordered my bag, and the rest was history.  

I always tell the purse story first 1) because it's pretty funny and 2) because it's true. However, the reason I decided to stay with Avon is because of the sense passion and purpose I get from it. In fact, Avon's slogan is Beauty with a Purpose, how beautiful is that?! There is more to this company than makeup and making money. Avon is about inspiring others to create the life they've always imagined and providing positive role models in the community that encourage others to go for their dreams. Below is a little more about the company's history and why Avon is not your average MLM opportunity. 

Avon is a remarkable company centered around empowerment, freedom, and giving back. Avon has been around for more than a century, founded in 1886 by David H. McConnell. Exactly 34 years before women were given the right to vote in America. McConnell started the company hoping to give women with limited rights the freedom to earn their own income. Almost 133 years later Avon is still empowering people to live life on their own terms, become their own boss, and have a blast while doing so.

Avon has a strong sense of community and support embedded in its culture. Since 1992 Avon has been standing with those enduring breast cancer and breast cancer survivors. More than $800 million dollars has been donated through the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to assist with research and help make necessary medical care accessible in more than 50 countries around the world. Each year Avon hosts a charity walk Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to increase awareness and raise money for the cause.    

Domestic Violence is another cause that is near and dear to the Avon Community. Approximately 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience severe physical abuse by an intimate partner in their lifetime according to the National Domestic Hotline. Statistics also show that every minute 24 people are victims of rape, stalking, and physical abuse by an intimate partner. These are alarming statics! In 2004 Avon created the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign to fight back against this tragedy.
