KALE, KALE, KALE AND MORE KALE

What’s so powerful about this green leaf-eyed monster?

Many of us jumped onboard the KALE super train a couple years

back when it was reported to be the best superfood for our bodies.

Like many of its green cousins Kale has a lot of beneficial nutrients.

I will admit though…

It took me some time to take a liking to the bitter leaf vegetable. It wasn’t

until I learned ways to better prepare Kale, that I actually took a

liking to it.

For instance… did you know that if you massage the Kale

with coconut oil

or extra virgin olive oil

that it makes it easier to eat and way less bitter?

I’ve even tried Kale Chips. These are so easy to make

and they taste delicious.

All I did was massaged the Kale leaves with coconut oil,

added some sea salt and a dash of cayenne pepper

and let them bake until crisp

SOME BENEFITS TO EATING KALE INCLUDE:

1. High in Fiber

- One cup of Kale has five grams of fiber no fat

Making it great for aiding in digestion and elimination.

2. Filled With Powerful Antioxidants

- Kale can help protect against various cancers

because of the various antioxidants like carotenoids and

flavonoids.

3. High In Calcium

- Did you know that Kale has more calcium than milk?

Yes, it does…so if you want extra help in preventing bone

loss and osteoporosis, as well as maintaining a healthy metabolism

grab a daily Kale salad.

4. Anti-Inflammatory Food

- We’ve heard the stories about disease living in inflamed

acidic bodies…well because of the fatty 3 omega acids in Kale,

it is also great for fighting against arthritis, asthma, and other autoimmune

disorders.

5. Cleans The Liver

- Kale is popular for its detoxing capabilities which helps cleanse the liver.

It also provides the liver with key nutrients that the liver needs to

function properly.

Believe it or not some people actually have a problem with eating Kale.

It is known to deplete iodine levels in those with hypothyroidism, but that’s if you go over

board and eat way too much of it.

Kale is also known to have large amounts of indigestible fiber which could cause constipation

and/or bloating. Switch it up a bit with spinach and you should be good to go.
