Five Deadly Mistakes Network Marketers Make

OK, so you decided to take the plunge and invest your money, time, and energy in building a network marketing business.  So, congratulations as there are many business opportunities for your success.  Unfortunately, many mistakes will result in your failure.

Before we go into details, let's put things into perspective.  Since your human, you'll make mistakes in life and business.   The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes and avoid repeating them.

Remember how it was when you first started learning to master riding a bike?  When you finally "got it" it was painfully obvious that "even a child" can do it.

Using the bike analogy, here are five deadly mistakes that network marketers make in starting their business.  You should avoid them and learn from someone else's mistakes.

1. Not Clearly Defining Your "Why?" - Basically. it all starts with what you want in life.  That is, what is your dream (vision) that has motivated you to the decision to start your network marketing business?

Your "why" needs to be very clear to you.  You need to taste it, feel it, want it, need it desperately.

Your dream will get you up in the morning, keep you up late at night and take up weekends.  It will motivate you to invest the time and sweat to do the hard stuff needed to build a network marketing business.

Conversely, if someone recruited you and sold you the notion that starting a network marketing business would be easy, THEY WERE LYING TO YOU.  In short, building any business requires commitment and hard work.  So, make sure your "why" is really what you want in life.

2. Not Committing To Success.  -  The option for failure is terrifying.  You MUST succeed in your network marketing business because the alternative of failure is too difficult to contemplate.

Once you start down this path, turning back is not an option.  Once you've landed ashore, burn your boat because you can't and don't want to go back.

You must be committed to your business and its long-term success.  Your family depends upon you to help them fulfill their economic needs and dreams.

3. Not Being Open To Learning. - Whatever your self-evaluation, you don't know everything in life nor network marketing.  No one does.  Recognize every day that you will need to learn how to manage your networking marketing business better.

What this means is that you must be open and have a mental attitude to be teachable.    Whether you are a newbie to network marketing or experienced, you need to be willing to learn from those ahead of you in the networking game.

Regardless of your experience or prior success, learn the tricks-of-the-trade from those ahead of you.  Especially learn from those mistakes, so you don't repeat them.  Once you have steller numbers on the recruitment sales board, your downline network will learn from you.

Just learn to be humble and teachable.  Grasshopper, learn from the master.

4.  Not Being A Positive Role Model. - When you are talking about your business (the company, products, commission structure, process, whatever), always have a positive attitude.  Since you are building a network marketing business, don't tear it down by negative comments.

Be positive in your communications with your network peers, upline,  downline, customers, etc.   Remember that you are a role model leader, a foot soldier, and your downline will replicate what you do.

5.  Not Doing The Real Work. -  Building a network marketing business requires you to prioritize your work activities.  Specifically, those activities that help the recruitment and development of your downline team.

The important work for your network marketing business is: prospecting, calling leads, presenting, following up, recruiting, training, and self-development.   As you can see, this is the hard work required to be a successful network marketer.  If your time doesn't align with these activities, it is low priority busy-work.  Just avoid this.

There is one final deadly mistake network marketers make that needs mentioning.

Just Plain Quitting. - This is the worst decision.  You will either be among the 3% of successful network marketers.  Conversely, you will be among the 97% that fail and quit.  Most network marketers reach this point sometime in their journey.

Generally, the only way to fail in network marketing is by quitting. Because at some point, you will begin to succeed.  Since you have invested much time and effort working for your "why," give yourself every opportunity for success.

Maintain a positive attitude and stay away from negative people.  Also, seek counsel from your upline mentors since they have invested in your success.  Give yourself every chance for success.

Remember, you will make mistakes along the way of building your networking business.  But we are all human.  And you can learn and grow from the experience.  Also, your downline is depending upon you as well.
