WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING A NETWORK MARKETING COMPANY

Those of us in the Network Marketing industry and those who aren't will all have noticed that there are millions of network marketers representing thousands of network marketing companies vying for your attention. According to an article on Forbes (ask me if you want the link), the Network Marketing industry is poised for explosive growth and is increasingly looking likely to be one of the most significant solutions to the current retirement savings crisis in America and Europe as well as elsewhere globally.

So at some point you decide that Network Marketing could be the answer for you. 

But hold on! You need to do your homework first. Obviously, not all opportunities are equal, and you don’t want to make a mistake with your choice and end up as one of those that jumps from company to company looking for the right one but destroying your credibility more and more with each subsequent jump! 

We've all seen the pattern. You see posts on Facebook from friends who have joined a new company, then months later, that same person is advertising a new product with another company. Don’t fall into this!

You want to really know the company you are becoming a distributor for inside and out before you start working with them. I mean it when I say the company you choose will either break you or make you, and possibly your reputation too.

The following is a list of things you should be looking for before joining any Network Marketing company. If any of these pieces are missing, your response should be, “NEXT!” Keep looking. 

They are rare - think needle in a haystack - but there are Network Marketing companies out there with every box ticked, and by making the right business partnership decision you can truly springboard your success.


TRENDS

The number one thing you must look for is trends. There must be a need in the market for your product, and it must be a long-term need. Look for segments in the economy that are growing at double digit rates, not just one or two percent. If something is growing, just at a slow rate, great! But that is not enough for you transform your future. Look for trends that are growing at 10 to 12 percent or more, year after year, with every indication that the demand will continue to not only exist but also grow over the long term.

In other words, don’t look to join something that does a lot of volume during the holidays one year but won’t continue at that rate the following year and in 15 years down the line. You need trends that will last for at least ten or twenty years. If they don’t last at least that long, you don’t have enough time to build your business within that trend and profit from it.

PRODUCTS

You want products with patents, copyrights and intellectual property that can’t be purchased at Walmart. Walmart will undercut you. You can’t survive if you are competing with them. You have to have something people can’t find anywhere else.

You also want products which are consumable - if your product is amazing but is a one-off purchase or will last a decade then you need to find a new customer to make a new sale every time.

Your products also have to be good. Even better if they are great, but as long as they aren't poor then the combination of trends driving demand plus great products which are exclusive and consumable means that customers will keep making repeat purchases over and over for years to come.

If you have that, you have a basis to build a business and create a large and loyal happy repeat customer base and a resulting recurring revenue stream.

COMPANY

You need to take a serious and hard look at the company history and how the company is structured. Here are a few basic questions to get your started:
How long have they been in business?
Who are the owners?
What is their track record?
Is the company transparent?
Is the company publicly held?
Is the company financially sound?
Is the company willing to invest in the future and innovation?
Is this truly a company that you can bet your financial future and reputation on?

You really need to be very choosy about which wall you lean your ladder against before you start climbing it - if it crumbles and fails when you're a year or more into your climb you're going to come crashing down, it's going to be painful and you'll have nothing to show for all the time and energy spent.

COMPENSATION

I want you to notice this is number 4 on the list - and this in order of importance. 

Why? Well, if you don’t have the right trends, you have no demand for the product in the market. If you don’t have a product that’s unique or you have something everyone else is selling, you’re not going to have a presence - not for long anyway. 

If you don’t have the right partnership with a company that has honesty, integrity, a solid track record and willingness to invest in the future and innovate, you have nothing.

Finally, if you have all these things, then the compensation plan actually means something and that’s where you can look at the track record of what a company has actually paid to distributors in its history.

TIMING

The last thing to look for is timing. Not all time is equal. There are certain years in your life where no matter how hard you work at something, it doesn’t really matter much. There are other times when if you work hard, it matters a lot. There is a sweet spot when something is happening and windows are opening. You have to look for that window. And if you find it and take advantage of it, it changes how you exist. That’s what happened to me and thousands of others. It can happen for you too.
