I've had my share of challenges in my lifetime, and have always come out with a new perspective, a new lesson. From childhood until late in my adult life, I have been exposed to and been a victim of domestic violence. I've witnessed first hand the impacts of alcohol, drugs, narcissistic abuse and lack of protection from those I had no choice but to trust, especially in my younger years. I was sexually abused by a family friend at the age of 4, and then from the age of 5-8 from an older male sibling. I was not taught that the behavior against me was not normal, did not know what abuse was or what to do when it happened.
There are many women (and men) who have experienced this and have kept silent. I believe that being educated, equipped and empowered even at a young age could have prevented the devastating trauma that resulted from the abuse. The residue from these events left me seeking love and attention in dysfunctional and toxic relationships, developing a misconception of what love was and being loyal to men who only sought to use, abuse and control.
After my third toxic marriage, being technically homeless and no way to support myself, I was brought to live in Hawaii to began a life transformation that would forever change my life. With the help of therapy and taking the necessary steps to healing and recovery, I wrote and published a book "The Concrete Rose Experience - A Journey of Transformation" (Amazon Kindle). I also formed a non-profit, The Concrete Rose Experience. Our mission is to provide training and life coaching to equip, empower and educate women to protect themselves and their families. We are not only arming others and providing them a platform to experience financial freedom by becoming a business owner, but also offering empowerment and healing to those affected by assault.
We are seeking a team of people passionate about this mission, ready to work hard for a greater good, and have a little fun in the process! If you are a domestic violence survivor or know someone that is, you know all too well how education is the beginning of prevention. There are so many areas where women (and men) are vulnerable to violence when alone.
