 I don’t know about you but cracking into the internet marketing business has been one disappoint after another. Much less the time and money and wondering “is this one a scam too” Heck, with that said owning your own business can take your whole life away because you are chained to it. Many small business owners try to do everything in their business themselves, working themselves like dogs, only to never become financially independent. Often, they end up broke and exhausted.  One of the richest men I’ve met once shared this pearl of wisdom with me: “The less I work, the more money I make.” At first, I didn't think the was serious.    I looked closely at how he spent his time, and his seemingly always-open schedule.   Other business owners I knew with operations 1/10th the size of his seemed to always be working, 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Not this guy though. He seemed to always be calm, never chaotic and stressed. So I asked him to explain. He told me, "Don't get the wrong idea. I work hard - I do. But, I work hard on the right things. Doing the right things in my business takes me about 5 hours a day. Besides that, I'm free to spend my time how I please." He explained to me the small number of activities he did which produced the most sales and profits.  Then he told me, "to avoid like the plague" any tasks which suck up a lot of time but yield very little profit. "Never do low-profit work that other people could do for you. Focus on the fewer tasks that produce the most sales and profits. Ask yourself, 'What brings in the most money?' and devote most of your time and energy there, and delegate other activities." Every business is slightly different, but here are 4 activities you can focus your time and energy on: New product and service development. Try to spend time every day working on new products or services. Look for ways to improve what you’re already offering. Spend time with your key people and ask “what’s next? Creating new sales COPY. Work on new ideas for offers. Here’s a simple trick for you: Spend some time each day rewriting old sales material to make it better, or tweak it to promote new products and services. You don’t have to write new sales copy from scratch. Building YOUR marketing systems. Marketing systems are complete processes for attracting and retaining the best buyers in your marketplace. It starts with the front-end of your lead and sales funnel, and includes all the upsells and back-end marketing you do to your current customers. Strategizing is the fourth crucial activity. Brainstorm with yourself and with key business partners and mentors. Ask yourself, “How can I do a better job? How can I make my existing products and services even better. And how can I develop future products and services that give people in my market what they’re searching for the most?” Some of this time is spent daydreaming and taking notes. Don’t kill a baby idea before it’s had time to breathe a little. Focus on those 4 areas and let other people do the day-to-day part of your business. You’ll do less, but you’ll make more because you’re focusing on your most profitable activities.
