7 Tips to Pick an MLM Company

In today’s article, I’m going to share 7 tips to pick an MLM Company. These are simple things I’ve learned during the past 16-years that have really helped me out.

# 1: The Company Leadership Team

Everything starts with the company’s leadership team. Check out their track record. What type of MLM or entrepreneurial experience do they have? What other businesses have they owned? How is their funding? What is their vision for the company? Ideally, you want leaders with distributor experience who understand what goes on out in the field.

# 2: The Reputation of the Company

Reputation is everything. Check out the company’s rating with the Better Business Bureau. Check out their rating with the Direct Selling Association. Check out their Google reviews. Ask current and former distributors and customers what their experience was like. Reputation is everything. Don’t expect everything to be a bed of roses. What you want to determine is if there are any red flags or show stoppers.

# 3: The Compensation Plan

Most compensation plans in our industry are designed for the company, not the distributor. Calculate how much volume and what size team you will need to meet or exceed your income goals. Take some time and figure out what people will need to do to earn $200 to $500 per month, since this represents 98% or more of the people on your team. The compensation plan should be balanced and fair with plenty of immediate and residual income for both part-timers and full-timers.

# 4: The Product Line

Are you passionate about the products? Are they a good deal even at the suggested retail price? Do they provide a real value to the customer? Are the products unique? Do the products make sense to you? I personally believe it makes sense to work with a company that offers products you are 100% over the top about.

# 5: The Company Culture

What is the culture of the company and field? Is it cultish? Do they value individuals? Do they allow you to build online? What type of personal development plan do they have in place? These are all things to look for before you sign your name to the distributor agreement.

# 6: Training & Marketing Tools

What type of training and marketing materials are available? Are the tools good? Are they free or priced at cost? Does the company have live events? Are there capture pages and autoresponders, apps, and a lush back office? All of these things are vitally important.

# 7: The Timing

This one is just my personal opinion, but is the company a household name and past its prime? Or, is it growing under the radar? You can make money in both established and new companies. I admit that. I’m not a fan of start-ups because of the high risk, but I’m personally not a fan of established companies where every person in the world is familiar with the company’s name. You want to join the right company at the right time, so you can ride the momentum and growth.

Final Thoughts

There you have it folks. This is just a preliminary list of things to look for when picking a MLM Company. Of course, there are other factors as well. My advice to you is to determine ahead of time what is important to you in a MLM Company, and be sure you compare at least three different companies before joining one.
