Looking for increase energy?

I consider myself a low energy person.  I am fairly laid back.  I find it easier to sleep than to run around like a mad person.  Since I was a child I always wished I was a bit more inclined to be on the go.  I am always on the look out for something that will give me an extra boost to get just a bit more done.  Over the years, I have tried different products here and there to see if they worked for me. One of the first products I tried was 5 hour energy.  It was still kind of new to the market in the early 2000s.  It's taste was kind of bitter, but I could swallow it down pretty quick without much difficulty.  I took it and noticed that I felt a little bit jittery.  So it must be doing something, since it made me feel a bit shaky and on edge.  I took it a couple more times.  I didn't notice that I had more get up and go per se, just jittery.  The last time I took it, was when I felt very sick after taking it.  I felt nauseated, jittery, a little short of breath and faint.  I was exhausted and had to lay down on the couch for about 30 minutes before it passed.  I decided from that day on that this product was not for me. Fast forward to a few years later and I started working a night shift job.  I had a 50 mile commute.  I started to drink coffee to help keep me awake during the night shift and the drive home.  I have never been a coffee drinker.  It took some getting used to and I had to put a lot of cream and sugar in order to be able to drink it.  I wasn't crazy about the cream and sugar because I felt like it was taking away from the health benefits of coffee.  I would drink a cup as I left for work around 10pm to help get me going.  I would drink another cup around 3am to hold be over till I got home.  It helped some.  I would feel okay while working.   I would be okay about half way home and then I would have to pull over very quickly and take a nap so that I didn't fall asleep at the wheel.  I was super glad when I found a job that was closer to me.  Eventually, I quit working nights and found a day job.  I didn't really need coffee to wake me up for the drive or in order to make it though the 8 hours.  I still wished for a little bit more energy for when I got home so I could do house work.  I have a long commute of 64 miles one way. I am usually up by 5 am every morning and I get home around 6:30pm most days.  By the time I am home, I am pretty much done I also occasionally work nights or late evening into the  morning shifts, so I still needed something to help me make it through the times when I needed extra energy to hold me off a bit longer than normal.  I started buying No Doze caffeine pills  that you buy at the gas station. I also found some caffeine lozenges at the grocery store.  Taste wise, the lozenges were so so.  Energy wise, they helped some.  They made life a little more peppier, but I was still on half satisfied.  One night I left work late around 1am and had to be back at 7am.  It was an hour and half drive home.  I made the mistake of drinking some coffee and taking the no doze.  By the time I got home I was mentally exhausted but physically buzzed.  My body kept twitching while I was try to get a couple hours of sleep so that I could make it back to work the next morning.  I made it through the day, but I don't think I have taken any more of no doze since then. I have never had any interest of drinking the Monster Energy drinks that my husband liked.  To me, the idea of that much sugar and caffeine in candy like colors was not my cup of tea.  Personally I encourage people to stay away from them.  One time this guy was drinking them and it spiked his blood pressure up like crazy.  You want to be careful with the super high caffeine products because they can trigger cardiac arrhythmias. A year or two later, I was introduced to Young Living.  It took a while but eventually someone told be about one of their products called Nitro.  It was their version of  a energy shot, designed to support cognitive fitness.  The first time I tried it was when I went to a meeting after work in a city that was an hour and half away from my job and then about an hour away from home. It didn't get over till about 9pm.  I took it when I left the meeting and noticed that the drive home was fairly easy even though I should have been dog tired from the long day.  When I got home I found it was easy to go to sleep and I didn't have any jitters or twitching during the night. I was very happy, here was a product that actually made my mind and eyes feel less fatigued and didn't give me any jitteriness. I call it "clean energy support."  It doesn't give me that jolt of energy that you might get with coffee.  It's a sustained energy and sense of well being.  I love that it helps to get rid of brain fog and fatigue. I find its energy and well being effects are enhanced when taken with Ninxgia  Red which is their wolfberry supplement drink.  It has around 8,000 ORAC points and tastes great. I drink it 1x  to 2x daily when I have it.  It helps me to feel good.  When I need an extra boost of energy I use the Nitro with it.  I try to space out the Nitro because they come in 14 tubes to a box.  My children and my dogs try get a hold of them as much as possible so it's hard to keep them in stock all the time.  I make sure that whenever I am going to work nights or a late evening shift that I have it available.  When I  take it, I have enough energy and alertness to make the long drive home without needing to pull over and rest my eyes for a short while. I have my kids take it when they need some extra mental stamina for a big day of tests at school or if they want to focus  a bit more. I feel good about taking it because of the effects of mitochondria it has on a cellular level.  Last month I couldn't get any nitro at all, so I ended up taking Yerba Mate shots.  The taste was pretty good.  It helped give me a little extra energy.  The jitteriness was mild.  I can buy them easily at the health food store.  They cost about the same as the nitro, so they will probably be my back up product when I need a boost before my next supply of Nitro arrives. All in all, my favorite product is Nitro and Nixgia Red combination.
