Do You receive a True Residual?

Most companies scream “build this business and you will build a residual income”. While this is true, most residual incomes are destined to fail, most very quickly and for good reasons. I know this because I have fallen into this trap more than once. Consider ALL the facts and use common sense before you bust your butt building the company you have chosen.

Up front MLM companies look great and the compensation plans look so good that we jump in 100% and we work and work and work to promote our MLM company to get the bonuses and build a residual income that we can enjoy for the rest of our life even if we stop promoting the company. This is a great concept however; the clear majority of these residuals fail after a very short time. Why?

The reason is – they are NOT true residuals. This is not an opinion it is fact. Consider this, let’s say you have decided to promote a company that sells a product like coffee or vitamins. The concept and compensation plan looks great and everyone buys coffee and takes vitamins, right? A residual income is created by selling your product every single month. If for some reason this is interrupted one month you will not receive your residual because nothing is sold.

Will your customers and affiliates be purchasing this coffee or vitamins for the next 3, 5 or 10 years? In order to receive a residual, it is all based on the sale of these products every month. Most products that are sold in an MLM structure are more costly than other products sold retail. Many, many things can go wrong with this concept over time. Most companies put their customers and affiliates on “auto-ship”, this means that they do not have to think about it every month the products arrive to them and are billed automatically.

The problem: It never lasts. For one reason or another the auto ship stops. People are overwhelmed with coffee or vitamins eventually and they say, “I will go off auto-ship and order the product as needed”. The problem with this is they realize they can buy the same product from Walmart for less money or if there are ever any money issues in the family the first thing to go is the auto-ship. When the auto-ship stops so does your residual. No matter how long you worked to build it up it is gone in an instant. Can you really picture anyone staying with vitamins or coffee for 2, 5 or 10 years? This is how unstable your residual with a product based company will be.

There is an answer. It is very simple. Find a product every person in the world already buys every month. Not only do they purchase the product every month but it is always one of the first things they pay for month after month. Everyone has paid for it for the last 100 years and they will continue to pay for it 100 years into the future. Offering the same product, they already purchase only cheaper is a certain winner and the only true residual that can be found.
