If You're a Boomer, You Might Want to Think About This.

I am a proud member of the boomer generation, and just turned 66 this week. Although I'm happy to still be above ground, like most of us, I know I have some health and financial challenges ahead. And I know what I am up against; you might be in the same boat. Read the following list and see if any of these apply to you (they do to us):

• We worry about our collective health. My wife is diabetic and has had gut issues (on the IBS spectrum); I have issues with blood pressure. We have family members who are very overweight, and I have a nephew with prostate issues (he is 44).

• We're a little worried about unsafe products in our home (we have grandkids and pets), so we're paying closer attention to this. Our environment, food and water, the air we breathe is not good. Cancer, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular issues are all on the rise... have you ever wondered why?

• We are fortunate in that my wife (RN) has a pension, and we have social security coming in but we're worried they may not be enough (and for most people, it will not be enough). Will her pension survive? Is social security stable? Yes, we do worry about that.

• We haven't saved much money over the years, and since we plan (as much as possible) to live a long time, we know another income source is a must-have (while trying to avoid physically going to a job).

• We're concerned about the pandemic, flu, and other bacterial and viral hazards, so, of course, we are concerned about shopping at all the stores we usually shop at; we're looking for safety and convenience.
