Thus, IBOs do not typically manage product fulfillment and customer service of the products they sell. Since all order and product fulfillment and customer service is outsourced to the online retailer/investor, IBOs are generally focused on making sure their merchant accounts and banking relationships remain strong and in good standing to provide maximum value to their online retailer/investors.

While online retailers/investors are always looking for continued ways to improve the program and to minimize the activities required for mutual success, currently IBOs are paid a flat fee of $1000 per month for fulfilling their agreement with the online advertiser investor. This payment happens monthly, 30 days after processing begins.

How Long Does It Take

Most IBOs can provide all the necessary documentation, create an LLC, and set up a business bank account within 3 business days. Once the paperwork is confirmed and documents are signed, it usually takes 2-3 weeks for merchant account approvals on the newly formed business.

Once the merchant accounts are created and approved, most IBOs begin working with their investors soon after.

What are My biggest liabilities?

Online retailers must trust that the IBO is a stable business manager and available to manage their aspects of the business. The biggest concern is always if the IBO touches or interferes with the money outside of the agreement. Minimally it creates an accounting nightmare, but in some cases could also be considered both fraud and theft.

On the IBO side, the typical concern is the longevity of the agreement and liabilities. Liabilities could be if the merchant accounts of their business were turned off, and they were unable to process credit card payments for several years because of the actions of the advertiser. (The banks hold a percent of all sales as cash reserves to protect themselves from most chargeback situations. That minimizes financial exposure.)
