The Dow Jones lost 600 points (2.4%) yesterday, wiping out all of 2018's gains, while Australia's ASX200 lost 2.8% and Japan's Nikkei fell 3.7% - a loss of 13% since its record peak earlier this month. The FTSE opened below 7000 points today, putting it at a seven-month low, while the DAX, CAC, FTSE MIB, and IBEX all opened to losses between 0.25% and 0.85% respectively.

The losses are the result of a perfect storm of troubles impacting upon investor confidence. The US market bull run seems to be coming to an end as investors air concerns that the US economy is overheating and further interest rate rises will be introduced. On top of that is the continued US/China trade war pressure, concerns about Saudi Arabia potentially murdering US journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and the EU's dispute with Italy over debt repayment levels in their new budget.

Oh... And gold is rising! :) Wherever they ask you to look, look the other way!
