In January of 2017 ALONE we saw $1.9 MILLION in identity theft losses.
In 2016, we saw $11.7 Million, and in 2015 $12.6 million.

Canada, although with less consumers, does have quite a bit of theft themselves. Though the 2017 Identity Fraud Study, released by Javelin Strategy & Research, found that $16 billion was stolen from 15.4 million U.S. consumers in 2016. 2017 is expected to be closer to $18 billion.
It's also estimated that LESS THAN 5% OF ACTUAL VICTIMS LOSSES ARE REPORTED!!!
If we use that esimtate, it is estimated that January 2017 ALONE had a total financial loss of $21 MILLION! in Canada.

If you're in Canada, what can you do to protect yourself?
Well, the fact of the matter is this : If you have a credit card number, chances are someone has it.
If someone has ever heard your City of Birth, your mothers maiden name, the street you grew up in, your passport number .... there are so many security questions that can be answered by anyone willing to dumpster dive, or pose as an account rep.
