Chasing Prospects Is Killing Your Business
The old ways of network marketing follow a familiar approach: make a list of 100 friends and family members, host hotel meetings, message everyone in your contacts repeatedly, convince people to join a "three way call" with your upline, etc. These ways are built around hype and pressure: "pitch everyone," overcome objections, and pressure people towards a purchase. This model is outdated, damaging to relationships and built for a pre-social media world. People do not respond well to being harassed or hounded.
In addition, the old ways rely heavily on rigid scripts (rather than skills). "Just follow the system" is a statement nearly every representative has heard many times. Scripts, though, don't build trust in a marketplace where authenticity is a currency. The loud, strong closer that once dominated meetings now struggles in a business landscape that rewards genuine personal connection. Consumers can detect insincerity instantaneously.
In contrast, successful businesses don't chase or pressure customers. They attract customers by centering on sharing valuable content, developing genuine relationships, and delivering value. Strong marketers define a niche and position themselves as educators and problem solvers for their audience. They build a personal brand on social media, in contrast to the old way of accentuating the company's brand. This new way of marketing builds trust and authority, and this trust and authority sells products.
This evolution is paralleled by the shift from management to leadership in brick and mortar businesses. A manager is focused on systems, structure and execution (directs the completion of tasks), while a leader is focused on vision, influence and direction (inspires people to collaborate on accomplishing a shared pursuit). Management is about planning, organizing, budgeting and ensuring tasks are completed, while leadership is about motivation, developing personal/professional growth and empowering/supporting team members.
My partner and I lead teams built on the new ways of network marketing and developing leadership practices within those we work with. Will is a Brand Partner with PartnerCo and I (Evren) am an Influencer with Farmasi. We mentor our teams to establish and cultivate communities, create and build their brand, leverage systems and automation, and present real stories and genuine results. We invite you to connect with us and become part of our community (we have named our teams Partners in Wellness). You can find all of our links (social media page, social media group, official websites) and contact information for us at PartnersinWellness.ca
