THE BEST TIME TO START UP IS NOW

Its a long read but worth it:����

When I wrote my Waec exams, I had to start a teaching job of 5k in 2005 just so I don't stay at home idle. Infact it was 3500 but they increased it to 5k when the parents kept testifying about my teaching skills.

While in school, I was selling handbags, big polos, pants and bras. I will come to lagos and buy in bulk then sell in school. I love unique things and I learnt this from my mother who is a business woman proper. My market doesn't stay a month and it is sold off.

Later on, I realised my school has alot of runs girls and club girls. I went to lagos and bought lots of bum shorts and sexy tops, bought bra tops and full chest bras. This market doesn't last a week. And I never did credit business. Never! It is cash and carry without excuses. Competition came in and my competitors allowed credit. Did it shake me? No! I never changed my standard for anyone. If you can't afford me then you're not my customer. Every business has its customers. 

Next thing, I moved location to another university in same state and started selling there. I started buying my market from Cotonou and I was getting unique designers there. Now, when these runs girls in this new location school go to the club, they always outshine my previous customers until one of them asked them where they shop their bum shorts. That was how I was contacted and they told me how they were outshined and I also told them how they went for substandard good and I went where they have sense. They pleaded I sell to them and I increased my price and became expensive. If you tell me you can buy it cheaper, I wish you a safe journey. �

Why? I knew my worth! I can't bring myself low anymore cos there is a serious competition going on amongst them so it is who has the money that can afford my labels. 

Same thing in Longrich. I tell people, I don't give downlines. Work for your money! Other people might do it, but this is me. Has it stopped me from networking? No! Has it stopped my growth? No! I rather work with you, teach you how to grow and make it than make you lazy and tomorrow you'll lie to the world that the business didn't work for you.

I did my NYSC in Nasarawa state. Then we had the whole Benue crisis and herdsmen issue. I was posted to Kugbaru village to teach Literature but we didn't last 3months cos of insecurity so they asked us to redeploy and my name fell in Abuja list.

I started my NYsC in Abuja. 

One night, I woke to pray and saw images on my window net. I switched on the light and found snails on my net. I was like what sort of evil is this? I started praying and binding spirit of slow motion. After prayers for me to sleep, I started saying, Joy, snails on your window, and you can cook. Why not do pepper snail? I jerked up, took my torch light and about 3am I went out and picked all the snails. Days later I did my pepper snail and sold them.

One day, my friend asked us to meet in a popular restaurant in Abuja and after eating and gisting I requested to see their manager and asked if I can supply them with snails. He told me how much he buys them and I gave him my price too. He said the woman who supplys it doesn't come regularly cos she doesn't farm it. I told him I harvest mine �. 

That was how I asked my mum for the secret to attracting snails in your backyard and she told me. I got nothing less than 63 snails just at my backyard! I will pick and my neighbours will pick and keep for me. �. I supplied to restaurants in Abuja and was making clean money. I will go to people's farms picking snails. I will drop their attraction food in every farm and return in the night to pick them.

Why this long story? START SOMETHING! START SOMETHING! START SOMETHING! 

Whether it is shameful or honourable or dirty, START SOMETHING! 

Stop staying idle pressing phone and following every drama and posts on Facebook. 

Stop begging people for data or credit.

Stop being in every drama when you know you have no job.

If the job isn't forthcoming then start something. 

If you don't have the grace for business then go and start a small job with that small pay.

Stop looking down on any low paying job. Stop it! 

The data you're burning to read every gist and be used to also make money but you will never do it cos it is not your thing. 

People use data to sell without having a shop.

People do lots of businesses and even write for people without an office. 

Start that low paying job! Your little beginning matters alot. 

The most important thing is that you're dressing up and going out. You do not know when you'll meet your destiny helper. 

Do not listen to those abroad or those who have a good life telling you, the pay is poor, don't work. Their life is different from yours oh. 

Whatever pays you small today, tomorrow you'll earn bigger. 

It hurts when I see youths and fathers and mothers jobless. Jobs and business ideas full Nigeria. The problem is that most of you are ashamed. 

And please do not say, the business is saturated. That's not true! There is a customer for everyone. If the business is saturated in your location then go to another state and start there. 

Don't say your competitors sell cheaper. You too, sell expensive. I don't see people compete to sell expensive and as far as I know in business, most Nigerians see expensive as quality. Maintain a standard and they'll respect you! 

I know you'll say, No capital. Please go and sell things on credit for people. Take your gain and use as capital. Today they call it drop shipping. 

I have written too much and let me not bore you but we have 3months to 2020, Go and make it count! 

Do something meaningful with your life.
