Life as we know it has changed… but God is in control

With the COVID-19 crisis at hand, many have lost their jobs, businesses are closing, supermarkets are being flooded with customers, schools, sports leagues and parks are closing. We have never seen anything like this before.  

We cannot allow fear, negativity and panic to rule our lives

Don’t focus on the problem, instead, focus on the problem solver. God has promised to make a way where there seems to be no way. I’m reminded of a story about a pastor who was on a flight home. A storm broke, cracks of thunder could be heard above the roar of the engines, and within moments the great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. The plane dropped as if it were about to crash. The pastor confessed he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. Then, he saw a little girl, apparently the storm meant nothing to her. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat; she was reading a book and everything within her small world was calm and orderly. While the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid. The plane did reach its destination, and as the passengers hurried to disembark, the pastor lingered to speak to the little girl. He asked her why she had not been afraid. The child replied, “Cause my Daddy’s the pilot, and he’s taking me home.”

There are many kinds of storms that buffet us. Physical, mental, financial, domestic, and many other storms can easily and quickly darken our skies and throw our plane into apparently uncontrollable movement, in this present time, it is COVID-19.

 Let us remember: Our Father is the Pilot, He is in control

With no doubt, it is a very uncertain and scary time for us all. I remember my father saying, “Son, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” My parents lived through the “Great Depression” and knew what hard times were. We are experiencing such a depression now ourselves, and it is time for the tough to get going.
