October has arrived, bringing crisp morning air, vibrant changing foliage, and the official start of the autumn harvest season.

October 2026 features one official U.S. federal holiday alongside a mix of widely celebrated cultural events and unique national awareness days.

Columbus Day - Monday, Oct 12: This is the only official U.S. federal holiday in the month, observed on the second Monday of October. Federal offices, banks, and post offices typically close.

Halloween - Saturday, Oct 31: This popular annual celebration lands on a Saturday this year, making it a prime time for trick-or-treating, costume parties, and community festivities.

Birthstone: Opal and Tourmaline

Flower: Marigold and Cosmos

Zodiac: Libra (Sep 23 - Oct 22)

              Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21)

Opal and Tourmaline together make October one of the most visually stunning birthstones month of the year. Opal is the traditional choice, Tourmaline was officially added as a modern alternative, giving October birthdays two uniquely colorful gemstones to choose from.

Marigold and Cosmos together make up the official birth flowers for October, beautifully balancing the rich, fiery energy of autumn with delicate, airy grace. While marigolds ground the season with warm harvest tones, cosmos lift it up with light, whimsical color.
