Yesterday, my Uber driver turned out to be a lady. 

As I sat at the back seat of her car, I couldn't have imagined such a beautiful, smart young lady driving me.

At first, I was angry at the system called Nigeria, wondering why this beautiful lady will spend years in school to get qualified as a graduate, only to be driving Uber taxi. 

Then, as I thought deeply, it became a huge motivation for me.

I couldn't help it, so I started the discussions with her. 

I told her how much I was really motivated today seeing a beautiful, smart lady like her riding Uber. 

"What is your motivation for this", I asked. She told me that her bank account is her motivation. 

Whenever she sees what is there, and the bills to be paid, she runs out to work. 

We got talking and I got her permission to make her my latest 'girl friend' in town.

She just came into Lagos Last Month, seeking greener pasture, which seems not to be coming that fast. So she took to Uber, even though she is a graduate of Chemistry from one of the Nigerian universities. 

She has her rented apartment, and paying her bills since then, without anyone's help. The car is not hers, so her income at the end of the day is really little, but that can't discourage a determined soul that I saw yesterday.

The real motivation is that although Nigeria is really becoming terrible, especially in terms of unemployment, if we think properly, if you remove your ego, if you won't despise a little beginning, if you are so determined; there will be something to do to keep the body and soul together. 

When life throws lemon at you, make yourself lemonade and enjoy. 

When life throws its dagger at you, don't hold it by the blade, just hold it by the handle and make it a weapon to conquer life's challenges.

Most times we need people to raise us, but the songwriter said, "...when I have nobody to comfort my soul, the only option is to paddle your own canoe." 

It may be difficult, but I guarantee that it will end well. 

One good recipe of poverty and misery I have seen is to wait for others for what you can do for yourself.

My friend, don't wait for them. Disappoint them for once! 

Try your hand and mind in something, however little and God will help you.
