Preparing for your future, and helping others do the same
Have you thought about retirement lately? I remember my dad used to tell me about retirement plans when I would apply for jobs, but at 20 years old the whole concept seemed unnecessary. In the 1970's just about every company had some kind of pension plan or other form of income for retirement. Social security seemed like it would be "good enough" since I would be "old."
Then the end of pensions came.
I grew older, had children, then grandchildren.
During those years I needed loans.
I started looking for ways to create other streams of income, but most of them favored the teams that moved from business to business. They moved with their teams and only those at the top seemed to earn the money while the downlines were hyped up to stay excited and keep building, with little return.
Then in 2018 a friend invited me to a meeting for a financial needs analysis (FNA). My first thought was it would have been a great blessing if someone had presented this information to my dad. I am thinking someone probably did but he was a busy electrician who believed in the pension/401K etc. system. The system where you could lose your entire life savings with one wrong decision. Thankfully dad's wonderful wife had a pension and they enjoyed their golden years. When he passed he did not have any type of insurance policy or burial policy, but he had raised us kids to work hard and we took care of those final needs. There wasn't much to do it, and we would have liked to have done more to honor his memory, but we did what we could ... now back to 2018, three years after dad passed.
My friend and I sat down with her team mentor and they teach me a little bit about insurance and financial awareness. We did an FNA and found out that I was on the same path as my dad and something needed to change quick. I am past the age that I can use certain products, but still young and healthy enough to take advantage of other products. I liked it so much I decided that I would study the process and products and become a licensed agent. My friends and I built a small team and opened an office. The leadership was good, I made many friends, and I learned how to create teams of people focused on helping others.
I decided to put the business on hold to finish my PhD. It was a life long dream and I needed to get it done. I continued to look for a company that I could work with part time to stay in the industry. I tried a few different companies but the fit was never right, until June 2025. I received a call from a call center (more about that later) to set up an appointment. I liked the process this company used to contact me, and found that this company aligned with my personal values and beliefs.
Now that I am back in the service industry I am excited about growing a team of people who want to plug into help others. Leading, coaching, and creating spaces for others is why most of us end up in affiliate marketing. When we share with others we are sharing from a unique point of experience and we earn the rewards that are a result of that time and financial investment.
