As a builder in “any real network marketing business”, you will spend anywhere from $50.00 to $300.00 per month on products and/or services. How you consider that “spending” is what’s going to keep you moving forward or break you. We have to realize that we are in business for ourselves and that it’s going to cost money to run and operate “our business.” If you’re spending $50.00 or $150.00 per month to run your network marketing business, you are getting off easy. Try starting any other business and keep your overhead at or below $150.00 per month. I pay a few hundred dollars per month just in general liability insurance to protect me from personal injury claims should someone get hurt on one of my properties . I don’t get anything for that, but should someone fall and sue me for anything, my businesses are covered. Do I like having to spend that, of course not, but that’s a cost I must have to be in business for myself where I deal with the public.

As you reach out to prospects, especially the “I want to be a builder and I want to make money people,” you will quickly see how some will get hung up on the monthly auto ship requirement. Even YOU might be hung up on that. It really blows my mind that PEOPLE WANT TO BE IN BUSINESS FOR THEMSELVES, YET THEY DON’T WANT TO PAY THEIR DUES. THEY DON’T WANT TO PAY THE “COST OF BEING IN BUSINESS.” That $50.00 to $150.00 per month is much more than the cost of products and it’s important for you understand that. You need write-offs.

If for example your monthly volume requirement is $100.00 to remain active and qualified, accept that for what it is and don’t look back. Don’t look at that $100.00 as wasted money. You’re getting a product or service for that $100.00, so what is the problem? When someone tells me they can’t afford $100.00 per month or that they “refuse” to pay $100.00 per month, they are “not serious” about being “in business” or they have no idea what it means to be in business. It’s this mindset that cripples new members in this industry.

9 out of 10 people you speak to have never been in business for themselves, so they have no idea how to look at that $100.00 in any other way other than an expense. You can either explain that there is “always a cost factor” when self-employed and hope to turn them around or you can walk away from them and POLITELY explain that they are not “financially” ready to start a business at this time. It’s “okay” to tell someone NO and that the timing may not be right for them at this time.

It is OUR job as business owners to “effectively communicate” that it’s not just about the $100.00, but what the $100.00 “allows”. It’s about having the financial stability to start a business and being able to maintain the business. It doesn’t matter what business you're in, there will always be a cost associated to it. People with regular jobs spend $200.00 - $500.00 every month just in fuel to get to and from work. You can use that same amount of fuel and “claim it” as a self-employed business owner. You can’t claim that gas money with a JOB.

It’s really important for you to understand the significance of a $100.00 monthly requirement. You have to understand it because you have to be able to articulate the importance to your prospects. Your builders joined you because they want to make money right? Well you’re going to have to spend some money to make some money and that needs to be very clear. If you enroll a new member who can’t even afford $100.00 per month, the bigger question is “why” are you enrolling that person to begin with?

Your $100.00 commitment every month is your cost of doing business. It’s your license to be in business and so on. It’s what will “qualify” you for more than 450 tax breaks you don’t qualify for while having a regular job. Your $100.00 business is what’s going to allow you to claim $7,500.00 to $10,000.00 (on average) a year on your taxes that you aren't able claim with a JOB, where you trade time for money.

No one is going to start a company, any type of company and make a lot of money early. But what helps what we do so inviting is that it requires a very low financial cost to get started, so the risk is low, but the payout can be huge and life changing. Bring in some quality people and you’ll make more than $100.00 per month.

$100.00 per month is only $1,200.00 per year. With your tax benefits alone, you will be ahead of the game and get that back. If you factor in "all" the costs of starting and maintaining a brick and mortar business, you would spend thousands to hundreds of thousands to get started and you would spend thousands each month just to maintain your business “before profit.” You can invest thousands to be in business on your favorite street corner and not have 1 person walk into your store, and you will “still” have these expenses. You’ll either get customers, earn more than you’re spending and stay in business or you will close down. It’s NO different here.

Your $100.00 monthly investment is your ticket to being a self-employed business owner working from home. Again, it’s not $100.00 that goes wasted. I’m sure with your company that you’re getting some amazing products or services that you need or already use. You are in most cases “redirecting” money that you’re already spending. It’s not like you’re investing $100.00 and not getting anything for that investment.

Your gas, the wear and tear on your vehicle and your TIME all have a cost factor. If you get in your car because you’re out of milk, did that gallon of milk really cost you $3.88? It probably cost you more like $9.00 when you factor in every expense it took to get that milk. If you’re like some, you won’t leave the store with just a gallon of milk, you will most likely pick up a few things on the way to the register and some of those items will be things you really didn’t need or go to the store for originally. That $3.88 can quickly turn into $50.00 or more.

Network Marketing is a low risk, high reward business opportunity. Once you get a few ranks under your belt, you can easily be making $2,500.00+ per month and all your products and services will be FREE, paid for by your commissions. If you work with any urgency and do what needs to be done, you and your team should bring in enough people in your first 30 days to earn back whatever you’re spending. If you’re spending $100.00 per month and at the end of the month you’ve created $150.00 in residual income, you’re doing fantastic.

In summary, if you or the people you’re talking to about being in business are more focused on the $100.00 and not what the $100.00 offers, or understands that the $100.00 is “your price for being self-employed”, your mindsets are not where it needs to be. You have to PAY “something” to be in business and to stay in business. The $100.00 you invest should be money that you wouldn’t miss. It’s those who can’t manage a $100.00 per month who will fail the most in this industry. If $100.00 a month interrupts your current quality of life, its best that you get out and that you not enroll anyone who shares this same issue.

I challenge anyone to show me where you can spend $100.00 a month and earn the kind of money that network marketing allows.
